Alzheimer Foundation Bonaire closes World Alzheimer’s Month with walk, lectures and community gathering

KRALENDIJK – The Fundashon Alzheimer Bonaire (FAB) has concluded World Alzheimer’s Month with a series of activities focused on awareness, connection and support for people living with dementia and their loved ones.

On Friday evening, Lisette Does, founder of the small-scale Love Elderly Daycare Center on Aruba, spoke at an informational evening at Captain Don’s Habitat about the added value of day care for people in the early stages of dementia.

Saturday was all about connection: day visitors from Villa Henna spent the day with young people from the Rosa di Sharon Foundation at the DIMI DIBO Ranch, led by former dementia case manager Henna Winklaar.

The month was brought to a close on Sunday with the fifth edition of the traditional five-kilometre awareness walk, this year with more participants than in previous years. The proceeds of ten dollars per participant go towards FAB’s awareness programme.

FAB thanked all volunteers, sponsors and partners for their dedication during World Alzheimer’s Month.
