ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius – The Council for Financial Supervision Board (Cft) St. Eustatius has made important progress in recent years in the area of financial management, with the unqualified auditor’s opinion over 2024 described as the clearest result so far.

According to the Cft, the public entity has also presented plans aimed at strengthening its implementation capacity and continuing the path toward being sustainably “in control” of its finances and governance.

The Cft further noted that utility companies STUCO and EUTEL continue to play an important role in carrying out essential public services and managing critical infrastructure on the island. Based on the information available, the board considers both entities to be relatively stable at present, although operational challenges are expected in the period ahead.

Projects

During its visit to St. Eustatius, the Cft also toured several development projects, including the harbor, The Cliff and the ongoing social housing project where 36 new rental homes are being constructed.

According to the Cft, these projects are important for the island’s economic and social development, with visible progress currently being made.
