KRALENDIJK – Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba must now comply with the same digital security and DigiD requirements as the European Netherlands. This follows from a new letter by the Dutch cabinet regarding the Digital Government Act.

The act has been in effect for Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba since 11 November 2025. As a result, the rules for secure digital login and online government services are being aligned across the entire Kingdom.

According to the cabinet, external security assessments have already been carried out on the BES islands to verify whether the systems meet the new requirements. Additional funding has also been made available through a dedicated digitisation scheme for the islands.

The Digital Government Act aims to ensure that residents can use digital government services more securely, such as DigiD and online service counters. The Netherlands is also working on new digital identity tools and a future European digital wallet.
