KRALENDIJK - On Thursday, April 30, Bonaire celebrates Dia di Rincon, the annual cultural and folkloric festival centered around community spirit and tradition. The Caribbean Netherlands Police Corps (KPCN) has announced it is preparing for a safe and festive event and says it will be taking concrete measures to ensure this.

According to the KPCN, police will be visibly present and approachable in Rincon on April 30. The goal, the police state, is to allow residents and visitors to enjoy the festivities without worry.

The corps reports that permission has been granted for temporary camera surveillance and that preventive stop-and-search actions will be carried out if necessary. These measures, according to the police, are aimed at preventing incidents and ensuring a safe environment for everyone.

The police have announced they will maintain a strict approach: anyone who endangers the safety of others will be arrested immediately. According to the KPCN, arrest will follow without delay in cases of violence, aggression against law enforcement officers, serious public nuisance, or possession of drugs or weapons.

Traffic

The police also make an urgent appeal to everyone’s responsibility when it comes to traffic. "Drive calmly, do not drive under the influence and be considerate of other road users, especially on the road to Rincon. Park responsibly and make sure roads and access routes remain clear", said a spokesperson for the KPCN.
