KRALENDIJK – As of July 20, 2026, the Directorate of Supervision and Law Enforcement (DT&H) has begun conducting comprehensive and rigorous inspections of establishments that sell food products. Food products refer to all types of food and beverages intended for human consumption.
The inspections are part of the 2026 enforcement program, based on the results of DT&H’s risk analysis and its supervision and law enforcement policy. They are carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations to ensure that food products are sold in a safe and high-quality condition to consumers.
During the inspections, not only the quality and safety of food products are checked, but also the hygiene conditions of the establishments, vector control, environmental aspects, and whether the establishment holds all necessary permits to operate. In addition, inspectors verify whether products comply with labeling requirements in accordance with the BES Food Product Labeling Decree.
Before the inspections began, all establishments received an information letter explaining the purpose of the project, the legal basis for the inspections, and the possible consequences and sanctions in case of non-compliance. To help business owners and consumers better understand the regulations, DT&H will publish a series of informational videos on various topics related to food product safety.
Inspectors will continue their checks in all neighborhoods on Bonaire and will visit supermarkets, mini-markets, and other establishments that sell food products. With this, DT&H remains committed to protecting public health and safeguarding the well-being of our community.
