ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius – The Grand Carnival Parade on St. Eustatius concluded Sunday evening without any major incidents, according to the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN).
The parade, which was originally scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m., was delayed due to weather conditions and eventually started at 4:15 p.m. from Sandy Road, finishing at approximately 6:55 p.m. near Carnival Village.
Before the parade got underway, all participating drivers underwent driver’s license and insurance checks, as well as breathalyzer tests. KPCN reported that all drivers passed the mandatory breathalyzer screening. One driver tested positive for alcohol but remained below the legal limit and was reminded not to consume any additional alcohol while participating in the parade.
KPCN thanked participants and the public for their cooperation and called on everyone to maintain the same level of cooperation during Monday’s King Momo burning ceremony at Carnival Village.
