KRALENDIJK- Nearly 30 volunteers of Hospice Kas Flamboyan have completed a training on giving and receiving feedback. The training was provided by Ruth Elenbaas of VPTZ (Volunteers in Palliative Terminal Care) Netherlands, of which the hospice has been a member since 2022.
The volunteers were divided into two groups and each attended two half-day sessions. They made time for this alongside their own jobs and their shifts at the hospice. By reflecting together on daily practice, they learn to better understand one another, the residents and their loved ones.
“By practicing giving and receiving feedback together, we also learn to work together better. Ultimately, this helps us to be even more ‘present’ for our residents and their loved ones,” say coordinators Angelo Goeloe and Mimi Dongen.
“Our hospice can only exist thanks to the dedication of our volunteers,” said director Danny Rojerta. “That we can also offer them the opportunity to learn together and develop further is very valuable.”
Elenbaas is involved in a training on Bonaire for the fourth time. “It is wonderful to once again see such a strong and close-knit team. We are grateful that we can also include the volunteers of Kas Flamboyan in the trainings we offer in the Netherlands as well.”
