ORANJESTAD - Fifteen civil servants have completed a three-day protocol training led by Curaçao expert Kenneth Anthony de Haseth.

The training took place from 14 to 16 October at the Mike van Putten Youth Centre. Participants learned about diplomatic protocol, ceremonial etiquette and event coordination. The goal is to ensure Statia’s official ceremonies and visits meet the highest professional standards.

Experienced trainer

De Haseth worked for more than four decades as Chief of Protocol for the Government of Curaçao. He covered topics including flag and anthem protocol, gift etiquette, attire and presentation, order of precedence, and seating arrangements. The training also included practical exercises and role-play simulations.

The program concluded with an overview for the Statia Day celebration. This allowed participants to apply their knowledge directly.

Professional representation

"This training strengthens our ability to represent Statia with poise and precision," says Vaughn Sams, Senior Communication Advisor. "It reinforces the professionalism expected at official functions and visits, which highlights the importance of protocol in preserving the island’s image."
