OCW Delegation Visits Caribbean Netherlands to Discuss Vocational Education and Labour Market Cooperation

KRALENDIJK – Representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) recently visited the Caribbean Netherlands for discussions on vocational education, labour market development and future cooperation between educational institutions and employers on Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba.

According to ROA CN Director Elyane Nicolaas, the meetings focused on the implementation of the Stagepact 2023–2027, strengthening vocational education and improving cooperation between the education sector and the labour market across the islands.

Partners including Plenchi di Trabou also participated in the discussions, sharing labour market data, sector developments and challenges affecting vocational education in the Caribbean Netherlands.

An important topic during the meetings was the planned transition from WEB-BES to WEB. According to ROA CN, this process will require legislative alignment as well as continued investment in institutional capacity and professionalization.

Cooperation essential

ROA CN stated that cooperation between government, education and labour market partners remains essential to building a future-proof vocational education system for the Caribbean Netherlands.
