KRALENDIJK - Bonaire International Airport (BIA) has signed an agreement for the phased renovation of the fencing surrounding Flamingo Airport. Work is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026.

The existing fencing is in a deteriorated condition in several locations. BIA will replace it in stages with a new, durable structure that meets the applicable safety and security standards for airport operations.

Phased approach

Work will begin with the most critical sections of the premises, designated as Trajectory 1. To minimise disruption to daily airport operations, the project will be carried out over a period of approximately five years.

The work will be executed by Haafkes Bouwondernemers Bonaire. Project oversight within BIA will be handled by the Projects department.

BIA asks users, partners and neighbouring residents for their understanding and cooperation throughout the duration of the works.
