
ST. JOHN’S, Montserrat - The Government of Montserrat has officially broken ground for the construction of a new National Hospital on the site of the old Glendon Hospital in St. Johns.
During the ceremony, Permanent Secretary Camille Thomas-Gerald called the milestone “a tangible realisation of years of hard work,” while Minister of Health Dr. Ingrid Buffonge highlighted the hospital’s modern features, including state-of-the-art emergency care, cancer screenings, and improved medical evacuation systems.

Premier Reuben Meade and Governor Sarah Tucker also expressed strong support for the project. Minister Buffonge thanked all those involved, including the previous administration, and paid tribute to Dr. Lowell Lewis, a pioneer in Montserrat’s medical community.
