KRALENDIJK – The need for a stronger connection between Caribbean healthcare employers and potential employees remains evident. This became clear during the third edition of CARE Caribbean, the biennial networking and career event for healthcare professionals and students interested in working on one of the six islands of the Kingdom.

During the plenary program, speakers highlighted that Caribbean students, professionals, and members of the diaspora in the Netherlands still struggle to obtain clear information about career and development opportunities on the islands. Topics included the need for a remigration policy, professional development pathways, and strategies to stimulate return migration and brain gain. Notably, more than half of the attendees expressed interest in working in the healthcare or social sector on one of the islands.

The event’s focus on improving connections was immediately put into practice during the job fair and speed-date sessions. Employers from Bonaire and Curaçao were present to discuss vacancies and meet new talent, while an extensive vacancy wall showcased additional positions from Sint Maarten, Curaçao, and Bonaire.

CARE Caribbean is organized by the WeConnect Foundation and AMA, with support from the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS).
