ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius – Strong community support was one of the defining features of the 2026 Special Olympics National Games, according to the St. Eustatius Sports Facilities Foundation (SSFF).
The foundation highlighted the large number of Statians who came out to cheer on the island’s athletes, creating what it described as an atmosphere of love, pride and encouragement. Family members, friends and supporters also traveled from different parts of the Netherlands to support the Statian delegation.
The support paid off, with St. Eustatius athletes delivering impressive performances and securing first and third-place finishes at the games.
SSFF thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the event, noting that the weekend demonstrated how sports can bring people together and strengthen community spirit.
Backing
“Statia supporting Statia” was the message shared by the foundation as it celebrated both the athletes’ achievements and the strong backing they received from the community.
