KRALENDIJK – The Climate Plan Bonaire project group officially presented the Climate Plan to the Executive Council on 26 May. The plan is the result of an intensive participatory process that began on 1 August 2024, with broad input from residents, businesses, farmers, fishermen and government agencies.

The effects of climate change are already felt daily on Bonaire: rising temperatures, drought, coastal erosion, sea level rise and damaged coral reefs. The plan focuses on concrete priorities such as water security, protection of ecosystems and food security, in line with Vision 2050 Bonaire. The project group urges the Executive Council to take immediate follow-up steps and maintain the momentum.

"Without the involvement of our community, we could never have achieved such a widely supported plan," said chairperson Nolly Oleana. "This shared commitment gives us confidence that Bonaire can face the challenges of the future."
