On Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba, Tuesday was marked as International Nurses Day. Healthcare institutions on the islands expressed their appreciation for nurses and other healthcare professionals for their daily dedication to healthcare.
Fundashon Mariadal highlighted in a message the importance of the commitment, expertise and involvement of nurses and healthcare workers in caring for patients, clients and residents on Bonaire.
Saba Cares Foundation also paused to reflect on the contribution of nurses to society. The organisation spoke of the strength, compassion and resilience of caregivers, and emphasised that nurses don’t just provide care — they also lead, support and inspire.
Annual celebration
International Nurses Day is celebrated annually on 12 May and is dedicated worldwide to recognising nurses and their role in healthcare.
