ORANJESTAD, Statia – The Government of St. Eustatius officially opened its Integrity Office on 18 September 2025, marking a new step in embedding integrity within the public organisation. The opening was attended by civil servants, Commissioners, and members of the Island Council.

The Integrity Office was established with financial support from the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. Initial groundwork began in 2024 under Quartermaster Marco van Rooijen, followed by Alexandra Sizoo, who recruited and trained confidential advisers and appointed an integrity adviser. Earlier this year, Jantien Bosscher joined the team, which has since rolled out training, communication tools, and updated procedures to promote integrity across the organisation.

Government officials emphasised that integrity must remain central in public service, especially in a small, close-knit community like Statia. The new office is intended to provide a safe space for confidential discussions and to ensure that rules and values are upheld consistently.

Public Trust

With the opening of the dedicated office building, Statia aims to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust in government.
