ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius - Students from Form 3e of the Gwendoline van Putten School departed this week for an international STEAM-focused educational trip to Orlando.
The trip, which runs from May 12 to May 17, is aimed at expanding students’ knowledge and exposure in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics through hands-on learning experiences outside the classroom.
During their stay, students are expected to visit science centers, universities and museums, where they will participate in educational activities and gain insight into possible academic and career opportunities. According to the school, the initiative was largely student-driven and focused on strengthening global awareness, practical learning and personal development.
Teacher Alice Minvielle described the trip as an opportunity for students to engage with learning in real-world environments, while teacher Prince Vantull emphasized the importance of connecting classroom concepts to practical applications.
Important milestone
The school thanked parents, sponsors and community partners for supporting the initiative, which it described as an important milestone in preparing students to become globally aware and future-ready learners.
