US$300,000 Boost for Caribbean Disaster Response Efforts

BRIDGETOWN – The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) have signed a new agreement to strengthen disaster management across the region.

Through the deal, CDF will provide a grant of US$300,000 to support CDEMA’s Regional Response Mechanism, ensuring teams can be deployed quickly to provide humanitarian aid, logistics, and emergency coordination in times of crisis.

CDF CEO Rodinald Soomer highlighted the importance of the partnership, especially during the current hurricane season, while CDEMA’s Executive Director Elizabeth Riley said the agreement is a timely boost that will improve the region’s readiness and solidarity in disaster response.
