KRALENDIJK- Construction has started this week on an additional parking area at Flamingo Airport Bonaire. The new parking area will be used by airport staff, creating additional space on the short-term parking lot P1 for visitors.
With the completion of elevation, leveling and paving works, the foundation of the project is now in place. Road markings and the installation of a controlled access system are scheduled to follow in the coming month.
The expansion is expected to improve traffic flow at the P1 parking area and enhance accessibility to the terminal. In the first quarter of 2026, further expansion of parking lot P1 is planned.
Solar park
At the same time, construction will begin on the foundation for a future solar park in the form of an open carport structure. This facility will provide additional parking capacity while also contributing to the airport’s sustainability goals.
