FORT-DE-FRANCE – The regional airline Air Antilles finds itself in financial trouble again, barely a year after a previous relaunch in a significantly downsized form.
This is reported by, among others, the French-language news site France-Antilles. The airline is said to be facing rapidly increasing debts and mounting pressure from creditors. Reportedly, it has already lost its regular operating license and is currently functioning under a temporary license, which is set to expire on June 30.
According to insiders, the airline is burdened with debts amounting to several million euros. Without swift solutions, another bankruptcy filing looms.
Ownership
After a prior bankruptcy, Air Antilles was acquired in September 2023 by a consortium consisting of the Collectivité of Saint-Martin and the company EDEIS. Under this ownership structure, the local government of French Saint Martin holds 60% of the shares, while EDEIS owns the remaining 40%.
