KRALENDIJK – Kathelijne van den Boogert will step down as executive director of Mental Health Caribbean (MHC) on 1 October 2026. The organisation has announced her departure, stating that it is connected to a new phase in her family’s life.
Van den Boogert has led the mental health care organisation serving Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba since 2024. During that period, MHC focused on further developing the organisation, professionalising care, digitalisation and regional cooperation.
The Supervisory Board says it respects Van den Boogert’s decision and expresses appreciation for her contribution to the organisation. Chairwoman Coryse Barendregt states that MHC has a solid foundation to continue on the path it has set out.
Van den Boogert says she looks back with pride on her collaboration with staff, clients and partners across the Caribbean Netherlands. At the same time, she describes her departure as not an easy decision, given her strong commitment to the organisation and the islands.
Careful handover
MHC reports that the coming months will focus on a careful handover of the director’s role. No announcements have yet been made regarding Van den Boogert’s successor.
