Boven National Park Statia closed for livestock control

ORANJESTAD - Boven National Park will be closed from Monday, April 20 through November 30, 2026, according to a public notice issued by the government.

During this period, activities will take place to remove roaming livestock, including controlled culling. For safety reasons, the park will be completely inaccessible to the public.

The park will remain closed throughout the entire period. Warning signs will be placed at key entry points. Trespassing is prohibited and may result in enforcement action.

Wildlife monitoring equipment may also be in use.

Part of policy measures
The activities are part of the Nature and Environment Policy Plan (NEPP) and aim to strengthen food security. They also fall under the Strategic Action Plan for Sustainable Agriculture (SAPSA).

The public is reminded that allowing animals to roam freely is illegal. Authorities ask for understanding and cooperation.
