KRALENDIJK – Employees of two healthcare organizations on Bonaire received their certificates on Wednesday after successfully completing a training program at MBO Bonaire. The programs, focused on social care and individual caregiving, are part of the Lifelong Learninginitiative (LLO), which gives working professionals the opportunity to pursue further education alongside their jobs.

The participants come from Fundashon Kuido pa Personanan Desabilitá (FKPD) and Zorg & Welzijn Groep (ZW Groep). They received their certificates during a celebratory ceremony at MBO Bonaire on Wednesday, June 24. Both programs consisted of fifteen weeks of classes, concluding with practical examinations.

Program Delivered in Papiamentu

A notable feature was that the Individual Caregiving program was delivered entirely in Papiamentu. MBO Bonaire aims to reach employees for whom language requirements pose a barrier in regular educational programs.

Responses from participants and employers were positive. Many participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return to studying alongside their work. Employers emphasized that staff can immediately apply their newly gained knowledge in the workplace.

Expansion in the Coming Academic Year

In the upcoming academic year, MBO Bonaire will further expand its range of training programs within the Health and Social Care sector. The programs vary in length from five to fifteen weeks and are aimed at upskilling, continuing professional development, and retraining. Both individual employees and employers can take advantage of these offerings.

"These programs perfectly reflect what MBO Bonaire stands for: giving people the chance to keep developing themselves," said a spokesperson for MBO Bonaire. "We are proud of all the participants who took on this challenge alongside their work and successfully completed the training."
