ORANJESTAD - In a conversation with BES Reporter Councilman Clyde van Putten said he was withdrawing his support from the PLP-led government of St. Eustatius.
The move comes after a period where Van Putten expressed unhappiness with various matters handled by the Executive Council, ranging from issues around the goat-culling project by a foreign leader team to governance issues around the GvP school.
Van Putten said that while he was withdrawing his support for the Executive council, he was not resigning from the PLP party, which he founded but no longer leads since Rechelline Leerdam took over as party leader.
The councilman said he would provide more details about his motivation and thoughts in the hours to come.
As BES Reporter understands, the two other PLP Council members, Schmidt and Simmons have not withdrawn their support for the ExCO, but with the withdrawal of support from Van Putten, there is no longer a majority in the 5-person Island Council.
