
ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius — Minister of Long-term Care, Youth and Sport Mirjam Sterk visited the St. Eustatius Health Care Foundation (SEHCF) last week, where discussions focused on recent improvements in healthcare and plans for the future.
During the visit, SEHCF provided an overview of steps taken in recent years to strengthen healthcare services on the island, as well as the results achieved so far. The Minister was also briefed on ongoing developments, including the upcoming renovation of existing facilities and the progress of a new building project, both considered key to supporting the future delivery of care on Statia.
In addition, discussions addressed the growing demand for healthcare and the challenges this presents for the organization. SEHCF highlighted the importance of continued development to ensure that care provision keeps pace with the needs of the island’s population.
Ongoing engagement
The visit forms part of ongoing engagement between the Dutch government and healthcare providers in the Caribbean Netherlands aimed at strengthening healthcare systems and preparing for future demand.
