GUSTAVIA, St. Barths — Authorities in St. Barths have reported a technical problem affecting emergency calls from certain French mobile phones while roaming on the island.

According to the Collectivité de Saint-Barthélemy, calls to the emergency number 18 are currently not being received from mobile phones subscribed to Orange France or SFR France when those devices are operating in roaming mode on St. Barths.

As a temporary measure, affected users are being advised to contact emergency services through the number +590 590 27 62 31 or dial 112 in case of emergency.

Officials noted that locally subscribed mobile numbers beginning with 0690 or 0590 are not impacted by the outage and can continue to reach emergency services normally.

Technical teams are reportedly working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
