Bonaire expresses solidarity after Colombia earthquake, assistance available for island residents

KRALENDIJK – Governor John Soliano has expressed Bonaire’s condolences to Colombia following the powerful earthquake. Island residents currently in Colombia can count on consular assistance.

"My thoughts go out to the people of Colombia and the Colombian community on Bonaire," said Soliano. "I wish everyone affected by the earthquake in any way much strength during this difficult time. Bonaire stands with you."

The earthquake also affects residents of Bonaire who are currently in Colombia. The Public Entity is drawing their attention to the available consular support.

Regarding the possible consequences for Island patients who may currently be undergoing treatment in Colombia, no information has been made public so far: it is not known whether there are patients from Bonaire in Colombian hospitals, nor what the current situation is in the hospitals where they may be receiving treatment.
