KRALENDIJK – During Regatta 2026, a temporary ban on glass bottles and other glass beverage containers applies in parts of downtown Kralendijk, including Kaya Grandi, Kaya Bonaire and sections of the Julio A. Abraham Boulevard. The measure is in effect from Sunday, October 11, through Sunday, October 18, every evening from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Island Governor John Soliano made the decision after consulting the security triangle, the platform in which the island government, police and Public Prosecutor’s Office coordinate. The aim of the measure is to prevent accidents and injuries caused by broken glass.
During the specified hours, it is prohibited to possess or transport glass bottles containing beverages in the designated area, even if the bottle is sealed. The ban applies on the street as well as in hospitality venues and on their terraces.
Hospitality businesses in the designated area may not serve drinks in glass bottles. Inside their establishment or on their terrace, they may still use regular drinking glasses. Taking these glasses outside onto the street is not permitted.
