KRALENDIJK – At the end of February, the Office of the Special Envoy organized an educational program to introduce students on Bonaire to space science and STEM subjects in an accessible way.
From February 24 to 28, 8th-grade primary school students and VWO 4 students from Liseo participated in specialized lessons, in collaboration with SGB Liseo, Sterk Techniek Onderwijs (STO), and the Da Vinci Satellite Team from TU Delft.
The program included presentations, a visit to the Galileo Ground Station, and a Train-the-Trainer workshop for teachers, equipping them to pass on their knowledge to future students.
Teachers from Sint Eustatius and Saba also took part in the workshop. The initiative not only highlighted the technological and innovative impact of space science but also made the field more accessible to Caribbean students.
Highlight
For many participants, the highlight of the week was the visit to the Galileo Ground Station, where they received a guided tour and gained insight into the station’s operations.
