ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius – Residents this week are taking part in the Kick-off Week of the Hospitality & Tourism Statia 2026 training programme, an initiative linked to preparations for Statia Day 2026 and the commemoration of 250 years of the First Salute.

The programme, which runs from June 1 to June 5, aims to strengthen hospitality and tourism skills while supporting the development of the island’s visitor economy. Developed by Summa College in cooperation with local partners, it combines internationally recognised hospitality training with modules on customer service, cultural heritage, resilience and the visitor experience.

Participants will take part in practical learning activities, including hotel and restaurant experiences designed to help them view the island through the eyes of visitors.
