Thousands Celebrate Colorful Dia di Rincon in Bonaire

KRALENDIJK – On Wednesday, Bonaire celebrated its most iconic cultural event, Dia di Rincon, drawing large crowds and lively festivities throughout the day. Following the official opening ceremony, the streets of Rincon came alive with traditional music, dance, and vibrant processions as groups dressed in historical attire paraded multiple times through the town.

The turnout was comparable to — if not larger than — previous years. Many visitors extended their stay on the island into the weekend, with flights to Bonaire having been fully booked weeks in advance. The atmosphere was festive and relaxed, with food and drink stands doing brisk business all day. By early evening, parking in and around Rincon had become nearly impossible to find.

Traditional roots

Over the years, the organization of the event has become increasingly professional, but some have expressed concern that the celebration is gradually drifting away from its traditional roots. Still, the spirit of the day remained strong, with groups like Kosecha di Diamante, which stood out for its large number of participants, drawing significant attention from spectators.
