Kralendijk - Residents will be able to pick up the new license plates at the Finance Department of local government, starting June 17th.
The plates can be picked up at the office on the J.A. Abrahamboulevard 27 between 8 AM to 6 PM. This applies all residents or companies with one to four license plates.
Citizens or companies with more than five license plates must make an appointment to collect the license plates in the period 1 July up to and including 31 August. In addition, citizens who cannot collect the record in the period from 17 to 28 June can make an appointment to collect it on another day. The agreements can be made through the Finance department, telephone 717 5330. It is also possible to send an email to tax-olb@bonairegov.com. Friday, August 31, is the last day for them to pick up the number plates. If they do not do so, their rights will expire. Please note, the outstanding debt remains.
To receive the license plate, vehicle owners must show proof of identity (sédula) passport, or driver’s license and an extract from the Chamber of Commerce (this only applies to legal persons). Residents wanting to receive their new plates must also provide the following papers: a copy of proof of payment vehicle tax, copy of license plate number $ 8.40 (MF $ 5.60), copy of proof of insurance, copy of proof of residence. As a copy of proof of residence, citizens can take an extract from the basic administration, an invoice from WEB or Telbo or a bank statement. Residents must bear in mind that it will not possible to make copies at the Finance Department.
Proof of payment needed
It is important to mention that, in order to pick up the plates, vehicle owners should be able to prove that they not only paid for the motor vehicle tax of 2019 (at least for the first 6 months), but also that the motor vehicle tax for the years 2017 and 2018 have been paid. Government stresses that, without this proof of payment, vehicle owners will not be able to receive a new number plate.
If a person authorizes someone else to pick up the license plate, the authorized person must bring an authorization letter and the sédula or a copy thereof from the person who authorizes him. If a person cannot provide all requested documents, he / she cannot receive a new number plate. That person must then return on another day with the requested papers.
