ORANJESTAD – Aruba is set to gain a new air link with Canada this coming winter. Porter Airlines will begin operating direct flights between Aruba and the Canadian cities of Toronto and Ottawa starting in the winter of 2026.
The announcement was made by the Aruba Airport Authority and the Aruba Tourism Authority in a joint press release. According to both organisations, the new routes will add approximately 924 additional seats per week between Aruba and Canada during the winter season.
The airline will operate five flights per week between Toronto and Aruba, and two flights per week between Ottawa and Aruba. The flights will be operated using Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.
Direct Travel options
According to airport operator AAA, the new route will provide more direct travel options for Aruba residents and reduce the need for connecting flights to Canada. Toronto also serves as a major international hub within North America.
Tourism organisation ATA describes Canada as an important market for Aruba. According to ATA, Canadian tourists tend to stay on the island longer and contribute more significantly to the local economy. The organisation says the new connection will help further diversify tourist markets and attract more so-called "high-value tourism."
Premium
Porter Airlines positions itself in Canada as a premium regional carrier. Passengers are offered complimentary Wi-Fi, snacks, and a cabin configuration with no middle seats.
