KRALENDIJK – Part of the grounds near Stadion di Playa is available again as a public parking area. The Public Entity of Bonaire (OLB) has cleared the site. The area can also be used during the Regatta. Temporary access is via Kaya Hermandad.
To improve safety around the site, the stadium lights will remain on until 3:30 a.m. from 13 through 18 October.
For years, the site was largely unusable as a parking area. Containers, trailers, heavy equipment and other objects took up much of the space.
At the end of July, the Directorate of Supervision and Enforcement (Direktorado di Supervishon i Mantenshon di Lei) began clearing the site. Part of it is now available again.
The work is continuing. According to Supervision & Enforcement, the aim is to reopen the entire site for public parking.
