ORANJESTAD – The Public Entity St. Eustatius has announced the start of the tarmac expansion at Franklin Delano Roosevelt Airport. The project, which begins on Wednesday, 16 July 2025, aims to increase parking capacity for both private and commercial aircraft, especially during peak travel periods.
Construction is expected to take around four months and will be carried out daily from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM in coordination with airport and public safety authorities. The project is supervised by Netherlands Airport Consultants (NACO).
Opportunities
According to Commissioner Reuben Merkman, the expansion supports increased aviation activity and offers opportunities to boost airport revenue through competitive landing and parking fees. Completion is expected before Statia Day 2025.
