PHILIPSBURG — Sint Maarten, St. Eustatius and Saba are preparing for significant rainfall as tropical weather system Dolly is expected to pass over the islands during Sunday and Monday.

The KNMI warned on Saturday of heavy rainfall and possibly severe thunderstorms as the system moves through the region. Rough seas are also anticipated, which could create dangerous conditions along the coastline.

The government of Sint Maarten is urging residents to avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding on Sunday 30 and Monday 31 August. The island says it is prepared for the expected weather conditions.

Similar weather warnings apply to St. Eustatius and Saba. Residents are advised to closely follow updates from local authorities and the KNMI.
