ORANJESTAD — The Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (LVV) will host the second edition of the Statia Growers Gathering on Sunday, 30 August, bringing together growers, gardeners and residents interested in composting and soil health.

Themed "Turning Organic Waste into Healthy Soil," the event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the LVV Composting Facility and Conference Room in Concordia #1.

Organizers say the gathering is designed as a hands-on, informative session for anyone looking to make better use of organic waste while improving soil quality. The programme includes a three-stage composting demonstration, a hands-on compost pile-building session, and an overview of composting methods and their effects on soil health. Dr. Micah will lead a segment on worm composting, and the event will close with an open discussion and networking session.

Participation is free, but spots are limited, and LVV is encouraging early sign-up. Residents interested in growing, gardening or simply learning more about sustainable waste practices are welcome to attend.

Those wishing to register or seeking more information can contact Mr. Jake Sams at +599-318-1766. The registration deadline is Wednesday, 26 August.
