ORANJESTAD — A group of accommodation and restaurant owners on Sint Eustatius has launched an independent visitor website to help travellers plan their stay and give local businesses greater visibility online.
The platform, sinteustatius.com, went live on September 15. It brings together information on accommodation, restaurants, diving, hiking, historic sites and practical travel arrangements, including flights, ferries, taxis and car rentals. Wherever possible, visitors are directed to local providers and relevant booking or information pages.
The launch comes as Statia prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of the First Salute on November 16, 2026. The organisers hope the attention surrounding the commemoration will also encourage visitors to explore the island’s nature, culture and businesses.
According to the initiators, the website is intended to complement the work of the Tourism Office and government, adding a promotional channel created from within the island’s tourism sector.
The site was designed and developed by Leeward Digital, a Caribbean digital development company whose portfolio includes websites for accommodation providers, restaurants and retail businesses on St. Maarten. The platform’s design focuses on easy navigation, speed and a clear presentation of visitor information.
While the domain uses the island’s official name, the website deliberately features both “Sint Eustatius” and “Statia”. The organisers say this helps international visitors connect the name they search for online with the name commonly used on the island.
Listings are free for local businesses, institutions and organisations that serve visitors. A journal section also welcomes contributions about history, nature, food, culture, events and island life.
