SABA – The Public Entity of Saba has announced additional trail closures due to ongoing helicopter operations for the Mount Scenery Tower Project.
The trail to the Communication Tower and Windwardside Lookout remains closed for the duration of the project. During active helicopter flights, the Mount Scenery Trail is also closed from the last rest shed and Bud’s Mountain junction upward, while the Elfin Forest Trail is closed from the Elfin Forest Junction on the Sandy Cruz Trail upward.
When helicopter operations are not taking place, access is limited to the summit area and Hell’s Gate Lookout only. All other trails in the Saba National Park remain open.
Authorities urge hikers to respect all closures and warning signs, noting that helicopter operations involve significant safety risks, including suspended loads and strong downdrafts. Barriers and ropes indicate closed sections and must not be bypassed. Restrictions may change at short notice depending on operational and safety requirements.
