KRALENDIJK - Six Bonairean organisations are joining forces under the name Loke ta uni nos. The partnership aims to get residents more involved in society, from young to old, from schools to museums.
Jong Bonaire, Terramar Museum, STINAPA, Biblioteka Públiko Boneiru, Scholengemeenschap Bonaire and Primair Onderwijs are collaborating, each from their own role and area of expertise.
Born from a festival
The initiative grew out of the citizenship festival held in October 2025. From that event came the desire to approach citizenship more broadly than just as part of education. Participating in society is something for everyone: young and old, residents and organisations, and the different communities on the island.
Youth, culture and democracy at the forefront
The partners are connecting their own activities and initiatives, aiming to create more opportunities for residents to meet, have a say and participate. Young people are explicitly given a voice. Culture is used as a way to bring people together. Conversations will also be held on topics such as democracy and the future of Bonaire.
By joining forces, they aim to contribute to a Bonaire where residents feel engaged and have the space to participate and make an impact.
Support from the Lieutenant Governor and The Hague
Lieutenant Governor John Soliano is encouraging the initiative. Acting Government Representative Jan Helmond and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations also support the collaboration.
