ORANJESTAD — Pupils from all four primary schools on Sint Eustatius have attended a preview screening of WOW!, a nature documentary about the six Dutch Caribbean islands scheduled for cinema release in September 2027.
Organised by Statia Tourism and the film’s project manager, Nathalie Rietman, the screening gave children an early look at footage featuring their island’s landscapes and marine life. The St Eustatius Sports Facilities Foundation provided the sports hall and internet connection.
Rietman said inspiring younger generations is an important aim of the project. Tourism director Maya Pandt said the event offered children an opportunity to see their familiar natural surroundings presented on screen.
WOW! explores the ecosystems of Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Saba, Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten, highlighting both their diversity and vulnerability. Alongside the feature film, the project includes six television documentaries, educational activities and local talent development.
