ORANJESTAD - St Eustatius is getting an additional €95,000 to preserve its records, history and cultural heritage. Commissioner Reuben Merkman signed the Archive Agenda on behalf of the Statia Government.
The Archive Agenda supports the proper preservation and management of documents and records, keeping valuable information accessible to the communities it serves.
For Statia, the Archive Agenda recognises three important areas: community archives, public sector archives and cultural heritage archives.
The agenda was signed by Commissioner Timoteo Silberie, Commissioner Eviton Heyliger, Commissioner Reuben Merkman, Afelonne Doek, Director of the National Archives of the Netherlands, and Inge Vossenaar, Director-General for Primary and Secondary Education.
The signing strengthens the preservation of the island’s records, history and cultural heritage, keeping them accessible for current and future generations.
