
KRALENDIJK - Police issued seven fines on Thursday evening during a speed check on Kaya Gob. N. Debrot. Of the 53 vehicles checked, five were travelling faster than the permitted 40 km/h.
The check took place during the evening hours of Thursday, September 10. Officers measured the speed of approaching vehicles using a laser gun. This was reported by the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN).
In addition to the five speeding violations, one driver received a fine for driving without a licence. Another driver was found to be driving without valid insurance.
The KPCN announced it will continue to carry out speed checks at various locations across the island and is urging motorists to keep their speed in check. Within built-up areas, the maximum speed limit is 40 km/h; outside built-up areas, the limit is 60 km/h.
