KRALENDIJK – The Judicial Institute Caribbean Netherlands (JICN) is launching the communication campaign ‘Behind This Fence’ in June. Through this campaign, JICN will gradually provide a deeper insight into what happens on a daily basis within the institution.
During JICN’s media tour with local outlets, director Peter Hengeveld and acting director Anna Domacasse briefed various media on this approach. They explained that preparation for reintegration into society does not begin at the end of a detention period, but from the very first day.
Within JICN, work is focused on safety, structure, guidance, employment and personal development. This helps people prepare for their return to society.
A safe reintegration also requires personal responsibility. Ultimately, the individual must make the choice to move forward. At the same time, society also plays a role. People return to their families, jobs and communities. That is precisely why it is important that they are given the opportunity to find their place again.
With ‘Behind This Fence’, JICN shows what often goes unseen: not only the security side, but also the daily work of staff, the guidance provided, the professional expertise and the preparation for life after detention.
Spotlight
In the coming period, various advertisements, radio spots, banners, visual reports (in video format) and other communications will shine a spotlight on different aspects of the work carried out within JICN.
