KRALENDIJK — Police on Bonaire are continuing the search for 47-year-old American tourist Jessica Collins. Collins disembarked from the cruise ship Carnival Horizon with a backpack on Wednesday, September 17, and has not returned since. Her disappearance was officially reported on Thursday morning, September 18, by a local cruise ship contact point.

Police were able to track Collins’ movements through camera footage and witness statements until approximately 3:15 PM on Wednesday afternoon. After that, all traces disappear. A large-scale search operation began immediately after the report was filed. The Basic Police Care unit (BPZ) searched various locations while detectives took statements and reviewed camera footage.

Signs of Contact

According to police, there are indications that Collins has been in contact with family and possibly also with the cruise ship, but these were insufficient to establish that she was safe. International media are now reporting that Collins herself has contacted the cruise line. CruiseHive reports that Collins has indicated she is safe and does not want to be found. She also allegedly cleaned her cabin before leaving, left a tip and thank-you note, and deliberately chose to remain on Bonaire.

However, these reports have not yet been officially confirmed by police. The search therefore continues until it can be established with certainty that Collins is safe.

Police Appeal

Police are making an urgent appeal to Jessica Collins to contact local authorities herself and make it clear that she is safe. Additionally, anyone who has seen her after Wednesday afternoon, September 17, or has information about her whereabouts is asked to report this immediately.

Police are calling on anyone who has seen Jessica Collins or has information about her whereabouts to contact them immediately. People can call emergency number 911, the general number 715-8000, or the anonymous tip line 9310.
