ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius — The National Real Estate Agency of the Netherlands (Rijksvastgoedbedrijf) has announced its intention to transfer two prominent monumental properties—the Voges House and the Busby House—to the Public Entity St. Eustatius.

Both structures currently belong to the State of the Netherlands, a result of the constitutional reforms of 10 October 2010, when various cultural heritage assets came under Dutch ownership. However, officials within the Netherlands responsible for managing cultural heritage, together with the Rijksbouwmeester (Chief Government Architect), have stated that such historical objects rightfully belong to the islands on which they stand.

Private treaty

The transfer would take place by private treaty. Further details regarding the timeline and conditions of the agreement are expected to follow.
