ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius – A colorectal cancer screening programme will be introduced on St. Eustatius on October 26, 2026, offering free testing to men and women between the ages of 55 and 75. It marks the first screening programme on the island in which men are also eligible to participate.

The programme aims to detect colorectal cancer at an early stage, when treatment is generally more effective.

Residents within the target age group will receive an invitation to participate over a two-year period. Those who have not yet received an invitation but wish to be screened can contact the local screening organisation directly from October 26. Participation is free of charge.

The programme will be carried out by the St. Eustatius Health Care Foundation and the Public Health Prevention Clinic. For patients requiring additional examinations following an abnormal screening result, arrangements have been made with Fundashon Mariadal Hospital on Bonaire.

Residents seeking more information or wishing to register can contact the Public Health Prevention Clinic at +599 318 2891, via WhatsApp at +599 318 5147, or by email at Screening.statia@statiagov.com.
