ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius – The passenger vessel Samantha 2, replacement vessel for the Makhana Ferry experienced engine failure and a loss of electrical power while travelling from St. Kitts to St. Eustatius on Monday.
According to the Statia Government, the vessel was located earlier and is being towed towards St. Eustatius by the tugboat KTB Responder 2. All passengers and crew members are reported to be safe.
The vessels Nora and MV Robby, along with Harbour Patrol, are also assisting in the operation. Emergency support services remain on standby.
Authorities are monitoring the situation. Further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
