KRALENDIJK – On Friday 7 August 2026, seven inspectors of the Directorate of Supervision and Enforcement (DTH) were sworn in as Extraordinary Police Officers (BAVPOL). The directorate now has a total of 21 BAVPOLs.
Earlier this year, the seven inspectors successfully completed their BAVPOL training. They gained knowledge of criminal law and criminal procedure, learned to act professionally, and practised drawing up official reports.
As BAVPOLs, the inspectors are authorised to exercise certain powers within their mandate, certificate, and applicable laws and regulations, such as identity checks and drawing up official reports. With 21 BAVPOLs, the DTH can now act directly in more situations, strengthening day-to-day supervision and enforcement.
The swearing-in ceremony is part of the continued professionalisation of the DTH, which keeps investing in the training and development of its staff for a safe, orderly and liveable Bonaire.
