PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – Makayla Cooks has been selected to participate in the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association’s (FCCA) 2026 Young Women’s Mentorship Initiative.
Cooks was chosen following a local selection process organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic and Telecommunication (TEATT). The ministry received 25 applications, with three candidates ultimately nominated to the FCCA. Cooks was selected by the association following its final review.
A recent HAVO graduate, Cooks has gained experience in tourism, event planning and marketing through the government’s BOP programme. She is also involved with the Sint Maarten Alpha Leos and Teen Times.
The FCCA initiative pairs young women with senior female professionals in the cruise industry and provides opportunities for professional development, networking and exposure to careers in tourism and cruising.
